Bodywork

The role of Bodywork is to influence the tone, communication and biomechanical tune of the body.  This happens by changing the perception of the body in attention.  It is difficult to notice ‘movement compensations’ because they have become habitual.

Areas of hyper-tone are released using transverse friction, longitudinal gliding, rocking and percussion techniques to encourage the ‘holding pattern’ to release. The client is educated as to ‘why’ the tightness is happening so that the movement compensation can be noticed and the overall chain of movement re-established. Contract/Relax and other neurophysiological methods are used to reinforce ‘letting go.’

Bodywork is essential in the early days of overcoming chronic injury or to re-educate movement patterns.
