The highest expression of movement occurs when the body is free to move around mid-line axis. Understand the ways you are creating inefficiency and how this deviates from ideal. Capturing the way you are organising your movement allows us to formulate a plan for re-educating optimal movement using central control mechanisms and instills a strong motivational drive to implement the changes.
The important movements I look at are;
Walking pattern
Single leg stance
Squat
Forward fold
Spinal extension
Lateral flexion
Spinal rotation
Plank position
Cross-legged sitting
Quad stretch
Arms overhead
These positions allow me to observe your stabilising strategy, movement compensations and dominances.
The other important area to analyse are sports specific patterns for the same reasons.
